My recent post on the Columbine High School massacre was inspired by John Protevi’s most recent book. He himself recently wrote a blog post on the assassination attempt of Gabrielle Gifford in Tucson. Protevi shows how commentators have a simplistic understanding of causality. I dislike Sarah Palin but I cannot blame her for the shooting, just as Marilyn Manson was not the cause for the Columbine High School massacre. It is complex.
