Mayanist lecture at Stockholm University

On the 25th of November, Professor Stephen Houston, Brown University, will give a lecture at the Department of Archaeology and Classical Studies, Stockholm University. He will talk about Visibility and Invisibility: Architectural Implications of the Seen and Unseen (but Sensed) among the Classic Maya. Houston is also invited to a workshop on “the archaeology of the senses” held at the same department and organized by the Postdoctoral Archaeological Group (PAG). Apart from him and me there are only archaeologists focusing on Scandinavian archaeology participating. More on this later on.

  1. I’ll see your Mayanist and raise you an Aztecist!
    Or maybe he’s a Matlotzincoist…?

Seriously though – sounds really interesting and I happen to know a bunch of people from Uppsala who will be interested. I’ll spread the word.

    • We can call them Mesoamericanists to save the trouble of creating smaller cultural areas.
