One of my most recent posts on the 2012 phenomenon discussed Calleman’s use of the Colonial period Maya version of the Christian God, aka Hunab Ku. The person who popularized the use of Hunab Ku in New Age was José Argüelles. He is also one of the central figures in Mayanism, the collection of pseudoscientific and New Age beliefs that find their inspiration in the ancient Maya. Argüelles passed away two days ago at the age of 72.
